LET YOUR CREATIVE JUICES FLOW | WEDDING PLANNING DESIGN

What happens when you are in the process of designing a blank canvas for your and you find the room has objects that interfere with your vision.  Do you panic and begin stressing out or do you let your creative juices flow. Take the obstacle and use it as a focal point.  For example, when designing the layout for an estate wedding last year, that is exactly what we did. There were a couple of trees in the middle of the backyard and this would have been an obstacle, but instead we used it to our advantage.  What a great spot to put tables, and use that very tree that would have been an obstacle, as a beautiful centerpiece.  Not only did it save the client money, but it became the talk of the evening.  It was gorgeous, elegant, classy and fun!  It was one of the "WOW" factors of the evening!

Have you ran into obstacles while planning your wedding?  If so, how did you overcome the obstacle?

Descanso Gardens | Suzie + Cliff

My lovely clients, Suzie and Cliff were married at the beautiful Descanso Gardens in La Canada Flintridge, California. Descanso Gardens is an urban retreat of year-round natural beauty, internationally renowned botanical collections and spectacular seasonal horticultural displays.

When I first spoke with Suzie, I knew there was a connection. Suzie and Cliff hired me several months after my first call with her.  Although during those several months, Suzie would call and ask questions about her wedding.  When they finally booked me, we hit the ground running to make magic happen.

I really enjoyed working with this lovely couple and am thankful to continue to be apart of their lives.

Congratulations Suzie and Cliff on your new life as husband and wife.

What's Cliff saying to Suzie?  Any guesses?

Los Angeles Times Wedding l Rebecca Klass + Gian Tullao

    Rebecca Klass and Gian Tullao

                                       Rebecca Klass and Gian Tullao

Rebecca Klass & Gian Tullao (Kacie Jean Photography)

When Philippines-born Gian Tullao was introduced by friends to Rebecca Klass in 2007, he wound up falling in love with her — and her Jewish heritage. Gian took openly to Judaism and eventually converted from Catholicism.

How did his Catholic family feel about this change of religion? Well, when Klass joined Tullao’s family for Easter breakfast, his mother served bagels, lox and cream cheese.

Klass, however, found it harder to adapt to Filipino food and will never forget one Christmas dinner when she couldn’t quite bring herself to eat a special dish called dinuguan — coddled pig’s blood.

Tullao, 28, is currently assistant manager at Toys ‘R’ Us in Porter Ranch. He recently graduated from Casa Loma College and will soon be a Licensed Vocational Nurse. Klass, 26, is a retail merchandising assistant for Guess? Inc. in downtown L.A.

The Studio City couple were married on September 4 at Temple Aliyah in Woodland Hills. The ceremony was traditional — but the 200-guest reception was, said Klass, “like a cocktail hour on steroids.”

Beverly Harris Weddings & Events transformed the Agoura Hills backyard of Klass’ grandmother into a Hollywood-style lounge, with white couches and ottomans, a circular cocktail bar, private cabanas, a dance floor and an array of food stations that included a sushi chef and a mac ‘n’ cheese bar.

In one great “Fiddler on the Roof” moment, the bride and groom were lifted in their chairs high above the partying crowd.

Madame Tussauds Wedding Reception l Shantel & Audel - Part III

The reception was the first one ever held at Madame Tussauds Hollywood.  Two hundred fifty friends and family attended, as well as Johnny Depp and Lady Gaga - or at least lifelike wax replicas of them.  And as guests walked an awards-style red carpet to the rooftop gala, a photographer snapped their photos paparazzi style.  Words to describe this reception are: Bling, Celebrities, Papparazzi, Red Carpet and lots of Excitement!

Agoura Hills Residence Wedding l Becky + Gian

When I first got the call to plan Becky and Gian’s wedding, there was a man on the other end of the phone.  No, it was not the groom, but it was the father of the bride.  We scheduled an appointment to meet with the mother of the bride, Becky and Gian.  When I met Becky I instantly connected with her.  She envisioned her wedding reception to be non-traditional and her parents wanted to include some traditional customs.  Gian, the groom was quiet. He sat back and let everyone do the talking.  All he wanted to do was married his lovely bride. So together we came up with a non-traditional, lounge-style reception and keeping some traditions such as reserved seating for the older folks, grand entrance, bouquet and garter toss.  Becky and Gian’s wedding was so beautiful (photos below). Congratulations to Becky & Gian.
